The recently formed ‘Teri Bikes’ group in collaboration with ‘A Positive Start CIC’, towards developing a new cycling initiative for Hawick and the surrounding area.

Both having received grants towards separate strands of such a project, the respective group organisers saw the potential to join forces, particularly on equipping, staffing and booking systems, which would otherwise have to be duplicated.

Currently assisted by the new ‘umbrella’ structure at Hawick Development Trust, the joint venture has already secured grant funding totalling over £54K, with more to follow towards becoming fully operational.

The basic aim of ‘Teri Bikes’ is to establish a fleet of rented e-bikes for both locals and visitors, seeking to populate the new Active Travel Network with an eco-friendly, healthy, quicker, cross-town transport option. Complimenting this ambition, with a remit to support community health and wellbeing, ‘A Positive Start CIC’ are aiming to use mainly regular bicycles
